Rivian Set up to Turn Gross Margin Positive

Dow Jones01:03

1203 ET - Rivian is at an inflection in ramping its R2 vehicles and improving gross margins, UBS analysts say. As R2 ramps, Rivian should see a positive inflection in its gross margin percentage for autos, the analysts say. The company expects to exit 2026 with a positive auto gross margin, aided by R2. The analysts believe this means that Rivian should be able to show a positive figure for gross margin by the first quarter of 2027. Underlying vehicle economics are moving in the right direction, which management is looking at ways to offset inflationary pressure. Shares rise 11%.
