Democrats Slam Republicans on Data Centers

Dow Jones00:07

About 125 Democratic campaigns in House, Senate and gubernatorial races have targeted their opponents over data centers and the tech industry's close ties to some Republicans, hoping to capitalize on voter concerns over artificial intelligence.

The campaigns running ads on the issue include 91 House races, 16 Senate bids and 18 candidates running for governor, according to a report from the Tech Oversight Project, an advocacy group that pushes for stronger regulations on tech companies and often aligns with progressives.

Many of those employing the tactic are in hotly contested races that could decide control of the Senate, including Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, Ohio's Sherrod Brown and Mary Peltola of Alaska.
