Samsung C&T, Samsung Electronics to Invest KRW1.59 Trillion in Samsung Biologics

Samsung C&T (KRX:028260) and Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) will invest a total of 1.585 trillion won in Samsung Biologics' (KRX:207940) capital increase via a rights offering to existing shareholders, followed by a public offering of unsubscribed shares.

Samsung C&T will invest 919.03 billion won to acquire 782,818 shares, while Samsung Electronics will invest 666.2 billion won to acquire 567,503 shares. The new shares will be issued at 1.174 million won each, according to a Monday filing with the Korea Exchange.

Samsung Biologics plans to issue 2.27 million new shares, raising 2.665 trillion won. Both Samsung C&T and Samsung Electronics' boards approved the investments on Oct. 30, it said.

Shares of Samsung Biologics fell over 2% in recent trade.
