Emergent BioSolutions received a contract modification valued at up to $22.3 million to supply its BioThrax vaccine to the Defense Department.
The company said the modification, which exercises an option period under its existing contract with the Pentagon, includes an initial delivery valued around $7.4 million set to take place this year. Remaining deliveries are expected to occur next year.
"We're pleased to continue supporting the Department of War's efforts to maintain preparedness against critical biological threats like anthrax," the company's head of products business, global government and public affairs, Paul Williams, said Wednesday. "Delivering dependable access to BioThrax helps protect our nation's service members who have an elevated risk of anthrax exposure."
