Morgan Stanley has recruited two financial advisor teams from Merrill Lynch and RBC Wealth Management to form a large practice in San Francisco. The advisors are now operating as the Bell Coast Group with Morgan Stanley. They oversaw more than $3 billion in assets at their former firms.
The recruits from Merrill include Tony daRoza, who joins Morgan Stanley as managing director and private wealth advisor, as well as advisors Adam Cline, now a senior vice president with Morgan, and Sharam Pavri, a vice president. The former Merrill team also includes support staffers Kristina Danielson, Jennifer Sun, David Nahm, and Ben Boyden.
The RBC recruits include advisors Tim Cecchin, now an executive director with Morgan Stanley, and Travis Townsend, who is a senior vice president. Support staffers Jasmine Murakami and Will Whittington also joined Morgan through the move.
Merrill Lynch and RBC didn't immediately respond to requests for comment on the departures. Both advisor practices joined Morgan Stanley on Oct. 30, according to registration records in the online database BrokerCheck.
The former Merrill team brings considerable industry experience, led by daRoza, who first registered as a broker with Lehman Brothers in 1990, before moving to Citigroup in 1993 and transitioning to Morgan Stanley in 2009 before joining Merrill in 2011.
Cline first registered as a broker and investment advisor with Merrill in 2011. Pavri started out as a broker and advisor with Morgan Stanley in 2017 and had stints with J.P. Morgan Securities and Merrill before returning to Morgan last week.
Cecchin, who joined Morgan Stanley from RBC, first registered as a broker in 1998 with H&R Block Financial Advisors. He also had a stint at Morgan Stanley before joining Merrill in 2011. Townsend began his brokerage career at Morgan Stanley in 2010 and jumped to Merrill in 2011 before landing at RBC in 2018.
