of chip giants extended a plunge from a June record to 36%. Nvidia Corp slid 7.9%. Qualcomm Inc and Arm Holdings plc also sank on underwhelming outlooks. The Nasdaq 100 lost 5%. Apple Inc plans to raise about US$7 billion ($8.9 billion) from an investment-grade bond sale, adding to a flurry of issuance. Tesla Inc and SpaceX each slumped about 10%. Bitcoin fell 5%.\n\"The rotation out of chipmakers reflects growing concern about the pace and funding of AI spending due to the risk of more regulations after the blue wave, even as earnings remain resilient and valuations have reset sharply,\" said Chris Murphy at Susquehanna International Group. \nIn a rush for safety, defensive industries like consumer staples and health care climbed.
