Shares of X-Energy rose after the company said it has selected Fluor to provide design and engineering services in support of its energy facility near Richland, Wash.
X-Energy's stock climbed 11%, to $9.99, midday Friday, but is down 52% over the past three months.
Financial terms of its deal with Fluor weren't disclosed.
As part of the agreement, Fluor will provide engineering, design and development services for X-Energy's Washington plant containing Xe-100 modular nuclear reactors, which it develops.
The agreement builds upon the existing contract between X-Energy and Fluor that supports another nuclear project in Texas. The deal also advances X-Energy and Amazon.com's efforts to deploy 5 gigawatts of nuclear energy by 2039.
Shares of Fluor are up about 1.7%, at $45.72.
