If the buyer of the option don't receive the shares then lugi le rite. Or are they still given synthetic shares first to freely trade? Trying to understand how this whole thing works.

  . if a buyer does not get his shares then he can demand them, In which the short seller will need to go buy and hand over to buyer. Clearing houses will start taking margin If seller got no stocks.
