Trailing Stop Order
I tried to buy a stock by using the Trailing Stop Order instead of Limit Order, but it fails to execute or secure a transaction. Maybe the Spread (set by the system) was set too high. I’ll try again next time by changing the Spread to a lower number. But this is one of the good order types to use, because it helps “to protect gains by enabling a trade to remain open and continue to profit as long as the price is moving in the investor's favor. The order closes the trade if the price changes direction by a specified percentage or dollar amount.”
“A sell trailing stop order sets the stop price at a fixed amount below the market price with an attached "trailing" amount. As the market price rises, the stop price rises by the trail amount, but if the stock price falls, the stop loss price doesn't change, and a market order is submitted when the stop price is hit.
“With a buy trailing stop order, the stop price follows, or trails, the lowest price of a stock by a trail that you set. If the stock rises above its lowest price by the trail or more, it triggers a buy market order and is executed at the best price currently available.””
