Mid Year Recap 2023: Learning but not yet earning

I haven't been writing much so as to focus on not focusing on the market. A while I ago, I wrote about not being too focused so as to be able to hold on to a stock long term.

Current Portfolio

I have also since diversified my port folio, a deviation of what I wanted to do at the start of the year, delving in EVs. Since then:

1. $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ : Gained around 5%

2. Byd: Gained 0.1%

3. Nio: 10% but only recently this month

4. Chargepoint: Fall by 50%

I intend to continue holding on to EV stocks as I'm in it for the long run.

I've also sold all of stocks of $Grab Holdings(GRAB)$ . It has since risen from $3.28 to $3.50. I don't like the movement of this stock as it seems easily manipulated but a part of me feels regretful for selling to early.

An anchor of my portfolio, $DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD(D05.SI)$  is improving but is affected by the financial situation in China. It's my defense and my losses were improved by the good dividends it has given but I think it has room to grow better.

Overall, my total losses are at $4500, an improvement from May.

Way ahead

For my way ahead, I will continue to invest in EV stocks. The trouble is picking the winners from the pool. So far, Tesla, while overbought has been making good headway and I intend to continue buying when it is down. Of course, this would be justified if its charging system continues to become industry standard.

This applies to NIO, although it took a while to make a profit on it. It continues to have good potential because of its potential battery swapping system. The confusing one is Byd, which is very stagnant and has risen only by a small bit (albeit a profit). This company, I feel, is Tesla's biggest competitor as their volume sold is continually increasing and rivaling Tesla.

For DBS, I will try hard to hold on as long as possible as its dividends are a life saver. As long as interest rates remain high, I believe DBS can continue to expand.

Lastly, I always have my eye on Grab. Why? I believe its price will continue rising (for real) after it has proven its business model. The challenge is not buying it during earnings season and bearing with the sudden unexplained price drops.
