This is my opinion on TikTok's competition for $SE's Shopee. The company is more than twice as big in the region as $BABA's Lazada. Up to now, it's mainly Lazada that seems to suffer from TikTok. Shopee just 50x'ed its sales through Shopee Live, playing on TikTok's turf. Don't forget that Sea started as a gaming company and knows a thing or two about engagement as well. Will Shopee will get more competition? Sure. But acting as if if Shopee is defeated already, seems to be greatly exaggerated. The company mentioned in its last earnings call it gained market share again. And they already have 140% more GMV than the leader they disrupted, Lazada and more than 10x TikTok's GMV. Of course, it's important to keep an eye on the numbers, but up to now, there's no reason to believe that TikTok will be the Shopee killer. $Sea Ltd(SE)$
