While it's fun to speculate, clearly none of us know what is going to happen between mainland and the island. Since reality tends to surprise my guess is that the outcome will not be among those predicted. We may awake one day to an accommodation between Beijing and Taipei, perhaps an announcement of trade agreements and novel civil links. Seems farfetched, but simply put, stability is better for both entities.
