Bulls and bears

With rising awareness of global climate change, geopolitical conflicts affecting crude oil prices, and tightening emission controls, adoption of electric vehicles is expected to increase over time, even if the EV industry may be encountering softening demands temporarily due to economic slowdown, escalated borrowing costs and expiring subsidies. Availability of charging infrastructure may have deterred buyers too. However, I believe that the EV market is poised to resume growth as the Fed is expected to commence rate cuts this year after taming the inflation and being confident that it is falling back sustainably to the Fed's 2% target, so as to avoid tipping the US economy into a recession.

With $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ turning its attention to developing new EVs are more affordable as the leading EV maker is reaching its "natural limit of cost down" in the prevailing price war, so as to compete better with the Chinese EV makers led by BYD, I'm optimistic that Tesla will be able to defend its market share while stabilizing its profitability. Likewise, the Chinese EV startup trio $NIO-SW(09866)$ $XPENG-W(09868)$  and $LI AUTO-W(02015)$  have proven to be adept at containing their costs. With waning domestic demands and intensifying local competition, the Chinese EV makers have already been turning their eyes to foreign markets. Hence, I believe that their stock price weaknesses in the near term present buying opportunities for long-term growth of the Chinese EV market.

Even its most die-hard fans are losing patience with $AMC Entertainment(AMC)$ , as the theatre chain struggles to bring back crowds to its cinemas post pandemic, while releases of blockbuster movies have done little to help too, as rising competition from the online movies streaming service providers like Netflix, Amazon and Disney give AMC a run for its money. AMC will have its work cut out for it by reinventing itself to stay competitive and remain relevant post pandemic. Time is running out for it to adapt to the new normal.
