The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed higher on Thursday(May 9), the seventh straight daily advance for the benchmark, as all three major U.S. indexes gained after weekly jobless claims data offered fresh hope for interest-rate cuts.

Regarding the options market, a total volume of 39,285,367 contracts was traded, up 10% from the previous trading day.

Arm Holdings gave a full-year revenue forecast on Wednesday that missed the expectations of investors who had sent the chip designer's shares soaring last September following its IPO on optimism around AI. Shares of Arm fell over 2% on Thursday.

A total number of 378.32K options related to ARM shares was traded, up 71% from the previous trading day, of which call options accounted for 53%. Roblox tumbled 22% after the videogame platform dialed back a financial forecast but saw bookings rise sharply from the year-ago quarter.

A total number of 371.50K options related to RBLX shares was traded, up 296% from the previous trading day, of which call options accounted for 58%. A particularly high trading volume was seen for the $40 strike call option expiring Jun 21, with a total number of 16,134 options contracts trading on Thursday.$RBLX 20240621 40.0 CALL$
