$Nike(NKE)$

Underneath the headline weak sales and future guidance were some very good efforts
a. Gross Margin Improvement & dil eps up 15%
b. Double digit Increased sales in womens apparel, footwear. Basketball also up
c. Performance Running sales growth d. SGA costs down 7%
d. tighter inventory control (a natural when you increase wholesale. Where retailers must take their orders. NIKE inventory was poor when optimistic buying for their own stores was too high...its naturally unpredictable).

These efforts show NIKE is running their business well. Cost Savings where they can, increasing prices to improve margins where they can. The Perf Running results, strategy & womens results are great news; they are drivers for the brand.

Obviously lifestyle sales (so retro models and fashion products) were slow. this is cyclical. Remember Nike is first a SPORTS brand. They're executing here really well and with good plans for the future.

An Olympic year is always good for nike... they must execute the marketing well. They have plenty of cash to spend on it. They have this expertise at least in the past.
One final thing.... which brand shoes do you still see on 16-25 year olds feet. Still a lit of NIKE. Ok N/Bal and some new brands have popped up... but when NIKE spend on SPORTS marketing in an olympic year... 🤞🏼
