Expected rises and falls next week

TSMC has been caught in the geopolitical tensions between the United States and China, amidst news that the US is seeking to tighten semiconductor curbs on China. After the tech stock rout this week, Intel's earnings results will be in focus next week. The US government had approved a grant to Intel under the CHIPS Act that is intended to revive the dominance of US in the global semiconductor manufacturing capacity, as countries around the world are increasingly prizing semiconductor among their priorities on national securities after acute semiconductor shortages at the onset of the COVID pandemic that had threatened to shut down domestic industries like automotive manufacturing which is heavily reliant on semiconductor components as vehicles become increasingly sophisticated and equipped with various electronics gadgets for safety, convenience and entertainment. The increasing focus on domestic semiconductor and the rhetoric by Trump in his election campaign that Taiwan has "stolen" the US' chip industry are certainly to weigh on $Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing(TSM)$   and support $Intel(INTC)$  .

The Chinese EV trio $NIO Inc.(NIO)$ $XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$  and $Li Auto(LI)$  have not been getting cheers from investors with EV demand softening in China and narrowing profit margins amidst price war in the EV market. This is not helped by intensifying competition marked not least by the latest entry of the electronics powerhouse Xiaomi. Furthermore, with increasing competition from a growing number of conventional car makers jumping onto the EV bandwagon, while demands have yet to catch up, I am getting concerned with a worsening EV glut in the near term.
