$Micron Technology(MU)$ the popular idea especially in the tech sector is that the leading company has huge power and the others pick up the pieces. And Micron is the one trying to do some/most of their fab in the US so they remain at a cost disadvantage. It's not an iron law or anything, but it seems to fit in many situations and this situation. Samsung and Hynix are strong companies, there's no doubt about that, either, and it's kudos to Micron for staying in the game with them. Micron has been trying to find differentiators for their products for years, but things have stayed pretty even all around. We hear more about Micron's R&D than the others, it seems, but I haven't seen it result in any area where they run away from the competition.
