I was surprised to find that some people believe if they invest in the S&P 500 index for 20 to 30 years, they will definitely make money, so I pointed this out. Then someone said, "History has proven that if you invest in the S&P 500 index for 20 to 30 years, you will achieve a 100% profit." However, the S&P 500 index has historically only crashed about five times, so I believe the sample size is too small to verify this claim. Moreover, in the past 30 years, the Nikkei 225 and the TOPIX have also failed to reach new highs on multiple occasions. I don't understand why people would think that investing in the S&P 500 index for 20 to 30 years will definitely result in profit.
