Emotional Investor

$NextEra Energy Partners LP(NEP)$ so in my humble opinion this stock is one to watch. Its down alot, it was at $26 before a Q3 loss and announcement a few months earlier that it mite not be able to continue increasing dividends while interest rates remain high. But its been crushed, down in the $15 range with a dividend return of over 23%. This week it has started to recover, after market its now trading at $17 as i post.

So my thoughts... well as an emotional investor i have seen the dividend investors exit, pushing the price down. They hate even a rumour that the dividend mite not keep going up. They run away like little girls run from a mouse. But i am a man, mice don't scare me.

I see $NextEra Energy Partners LP(NEP)$ as a cow. So does its parent company $NextEra(NEE)$ its producing cash, alot of cash. Yep it made a loos in Q3 but it can still justify paying and increasing dividends for Possibly up to two years. February will be the deciding factor when they announce their next dividend payment. If they cut it, the price will likely tank, if they increase, it will likely go sideways.

But this is not a stock you buy for capital gains... you buy it because you are milking the cow. Heck its a renewable energy stock, investing in solar and wind power. But you are not buying it for its future potential, you are buying it to milk it. 20% plus Dividend! Even if it cuts the dividend in half, 10% thats still great.

Its a dividend engine, well thats how i classify these stocks. Basically what i mean is it forms part of the foundation of anyone's portfolio. It provides a significant cash flow which enables your portfolio growth. Its feeding me money to buy other stocks.

Would i buy call options? Well i did. Cause it's ridiculously low atm, but that wasn't a good move. It has alot of potential downside going forward, and alot of upside too. But i will look to sell the calls i bought as they are in the money, and just buy the stock.

I did the chuck norris on NEP but balls of steel can't fight a dead cat that is bouncing. Having said that, NEP is not a dead cat... its a cow, with alot of milk. Its only a tiny position in my portfolio, like 1%, but i have been milking that cow for over two years, so even though its down, im up. And i will add more... but at this point there is more uncertainty than there was, so im holding til feb 2025. If they announce a dividend cut and the stock tanks, ill buy and take it to 5% of my portfolio when its still returning 20% plus dividend yield. But my tea leaves tell me no cut, and my tea leaves also say, santa rally in December. And santa likes milk with his cookies ;)
