$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ has informed its staff that it plans to pause production of the Cybertruck and Model Y during the week of July 4, 2025. The primary reason for this pause is to conduct maintenance and improvements on the production lines. These enhancements are expected to boost production efficiency in the future.
This is not the first time Tesla has paused production at its Austin, Texas facility. Over the past year, the company has halted production at least twice. For example, in late May 2025, Tesla paused production of the Model Y and Cybertruck. Additionally, in December 2024, Cybertruck production was halted due to battery supply issues.
During the production pause, employees have the option to take paid time off or participate in voluntary training and cleaning activities at the factory. Tesla aims to use this downtime to prepare for future production improvements.
