$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ Tesla has launched its robotaxi test in Austin last sunday and that caused a spurt in the stock price.

Expectations were that the robotaxis will perform as good or even better than Waymo or Zoox but so far with its pure vision cameras it has proven not on par and perhaps lidar is the way to go since it removes the complications of post processing of depth and avoid complications with poor vision. Lidar systems has been well proven not only in US but China as well with Apollo, Pony and Weride.

Sales of Tesla cars are reducing in China and EU and even at home in US. Whereas EV car companies like BYD is dominating due to their low prices and penetrating into even EU.

Claims of 5000 units of Optimus being produced this year seems far fetched as demonstrations were not convincing of a fully functional product unlike it's 1st EV roadster.

Even its solar cell business is being dominated by China's Ja and Jinko Solar.

Conclusion is that Tesla has lost its lustre when it was the market leader and now dominated by uprising competitors. However kudos to Elon Musk if without his vision we will not be seeing the fast forwarding of EVs today.
