Virgin Galactic (NYSE: SPCE) is advancing its next-generation Delta-class spaceplanes, aiming to resume commercial spaceflights by 2026.

Delta-Class Spaceplanes

The Delta-class vehicles are designed to carry six passengers and are expected to fly up to eight missions per month, a significant increase from the previous VSS Unity's capacity. The first research flight is planned for summer 2026, followed by private astronaut flights in the fall.

Manufacturing and Partnerships

Final assembly of the Delta-class ships is underway at Virgin Galactic's new facility in Phoenix, Arizona. Additionally, Virgin Galactic has partnered with Redwire Corporation to develop advanced research payload lockers, enhancing the microgravity research capabilities of the Delta-class spacecraft.

Future Launch Sites

While Spaceport America in New Mexico remains the primary launch site, Virgin Galactic is exploring additional spaceport locations in Europe and the Middle East to expand its global operations.
