I think ROI payback test, FY guidance update and beat but sold off would characterise this earnings week. With the stiffening competition, investors would want to see how much ROI there would be after all the investments by the companies into R&D. Fy guidance is also important for forward planning by investors and give a guide to where the company stands against its competitors. Even with a stellar earnings, poor guidance would cause investors to shun the stock as no one wants to be trapped with the stock.

Unfortunately, with the announcement of the new Fed chair, market is still trying to figure out his narrative and what it means for the stock market. I wouldn’t be surprised that many would want to take profit now and the selling would drive the prices of many stocks down, independent of its earnings.

I think Apple will tell the best ROI story due to the popularity of the iPhone 17 and the rebound in the Chinese market.
Apple Earnings Surprise! Would You Buy on the Rebound?
Apple delivered a clear upside surprise in Q4: revenue growth reaccelerated to 16% YoY, EPS rose 18%, and iPhone revenue jumped 23%, with CEO Tim Cook calling demand “unprecedented” across all regions. R&D spending surged 32%, signaling heavier AI investment, while active installed base topped 2.5 billion devices. Is Apple’s iPhone reacceleration enough to mark a durable bottom for the stock? After earnings, do you see Apple as a buy for the next cycle or a trading rebound only?
