Trump accused Anthropic of coercing the Department of Defense on social media,
Violation of the US Constitution; Anthropic has not responded yet. The company had previously refused to let the Pentagon use Claude for public surveillance or fully automated weapons operations.
This move will shake Silicon Valley, where Anthropic's 38 billion dollars valuation, 200 million dollars in partnership with the military, and once the only AI system that could run in the Pentagon's confidential cloud, the ban has had a huge impact on it.
This certainly triggered a Silicon Valley backlash, with Amazon, Microsoft employees calling on companies to reject the Pentagon's request for unrestricted use of AI, and OpenAI CEO also opposed and negotiated restrictions, hoping to ease the situation.
Anthropic CEO was denounced on social media by Undersecretary of Defense Michael Social Media on Thursday for lying, wanting to control the US military, endangering national security.
Michael relented on Friday, saying he would continue negotiations before the deadline as long as Anthropic is sincere.
