This week's under-the-radar stock watchlist focuses on companies benefiting from the next layer of AI infrastructure rather than crowded mega-cap names such as NVIDIA.
Credo Technology (CRDO) and Astera Labs (ALAB) are the strongest AI connectivity candidates. Both benefit from rapidly increasing bandwidth requirements inside AI data centers, including 800G/1.6T networking and high-speed server connectivity. They offer significant growth potential, although valuations and volatility remain elevated.
The second opportunity is power infrastructure. AI data centers require enormous electricity capacity, creating structural demand for grid upgrades. Quanta Services (PWR) benefits from transmission and grid construction, while Powell Industries (POWL) supplies critical electrical equipment. These businesses provide indirect AI exposure with more tangible infrastructure demand.
Further down the semiconductor supply chain, AXT (AXTI) provides specialty substrates used in optical communications, while Ichor Holdings (ICHR) supplies semiconductor manufacturing equipment components. Cohu (COHU) offers exposure to increasingly complex semiconductor testing requirements.
Vertiv (VRT) remains attractive for its exposure to data-center cooling and power management, although it is no longer genuinely under-the-radar.
Priority ranking: CRDO and ALAB offer the strongest growth exposure; PWR and POWL provide more diversified infrastructure exposure; AXTI, ICHR and COHU are higher-risk small/mid-cap opportunities.
The broader strategy is to look beyond GPU manufacturers toward the second-order beneficiaries of AI investment: networking, optical connectivity, electricity, cooling, grid infrastructure and semiconductor equipment. These areas could continue growing even as investors become more selective about expensive mega-cap AI stocks.
