I think stronger cash generation from AI companies would reverse the defensive rotation first. Cheaper funding can lift valuations, and lower oil can ease inflation pressure, but neither directly answers the market’s biggest concern: whether massive AI spending can generate sufficient returns.

If major AI players show accelerating free cash flow, improving margins and clear monetisation from their AI investments, investors would have a stronger reason to rotate back into growth and tech. That would turn the AI story from “expensive promise” into demonstrated earnings power.

Cheaper funding would probably amplify that move, but stronger cash generation is the catalyst I would watch first.

Bloom Energy Drops Another 11% — Why Can't Strong Growth Halt the Slide?
Bloom Energy fell 11.24% Friday, leaving shares 44% below their June peak despite beating earnings expectations and raising full-year revenue guidance. Revenue reached $1.24B and non-GAAP EPS $0.94, but guidance is not contracted orders, and free cash flow remained negative $181M as expansion absorbed cash. Bulls cite AI data-center power demand and improving margins; bears want proof growth converts to cash. What would confirm sustainable free cash flow?
