AI optimism returned to Wall Street on Monday, October 26, as $Anthropic(ANT)$ filed for an initial public offering (IPO), semiconductor stocks rallied, and major US indexes recovered from recent losses.

The $S&P 500(.SPX)$ rose 0.70% to close at 7,676.77, while the $NASDAQ(.IXIC)$ Composite gained 0.82% to 26,169.38. The $Dow Jones(.DJI)$ Industrial Average advanced 0.28% to 52,361.58. The rebound came as investors assessed Anthropic’s planned public debut and Meta’s ambitious financing plan for AI expansion.

But the bigger question is whether the AI investment boom can deliver sustainable profits.

With $Anthropic(ANT)$’s IPO filing bringing fresh attention to AI valuations, $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ committing substantial capital to infrastructure, and major technology companies preparing to report earnings, investors have three key developments to watch.

🚀 1. Anthropic’s IPO Puts the AI Business Model in the Spotlight

Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI assistant, filed a registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on October 26 for a proposed IPO. The company plans to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol $Anthropic(ANT)$, although the offering’s final price and timing have yet to be determined.

The filing provides investors with a closer look at one of the companies competing to shape the AI industry—and reveals a striking contrast between rapid revenue growth and reported losses.

📊 Anthropic’s Financial Snapshot

Six months ended June 30, 2026

  • Revenue: $16.286 billion

  • Operating loss: $693 million

  • Reported net loss: $80.748 billion

Revenue increased from approximately $1.163 billion in the same period of 2025, representing growth of roughly 1,300% year over year. Meanwhile, the operating loss narrowed from approximately $2.135 billion to $693 million.

The reported net loss, however, was largely driven by non-operating accounting effects, including a substantial fair-value adjustment associated with convertible securities. It should not be interpreted as $80.7 billion in cash consumed by ordinary business operations.

Why does this matter for semiconductor stocks?

AI developers need enormous computing capacity to train and operate advanced models. That creates demand across a wider infrastructure ecosystem:

If AI adoption continues to expand, these businesses could benefit from growing demand for computing power.

$Anthropic(ANT)$’s IPO does not automatically generate new chip orders. Instead, it gives investors more information about the financial performance and potential valuation of a major AI developer, helping them assess the broader industry's growth prospects.

The filing also raises an important question: Can AI companies translate rapid revenue growth into sustainable profitability after accounting for computing costs, infrastructure commitments and other expenses?

What to watch: $Anthropic(ANT)$’s eventual IPO valuation, its revenue growth, operating performance and ability to build a sustainable business model.

💰 2. Meta’s $95 Billion Financing Plan Highlights the Cost of AI Expansion

$Anthropic(ANT)$’s filing was not the only major AI-related development on Monday.

$Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ announced a financing plan of up to $95 billion to support its investments in AI infrastructure and future products.

The original plan comprised approximately $35 billion in concurrent underwritten offerings—$22.5 billion in common stock and $12.5 billion in mandatory convertible preferred stock—alongside a potential additional $60 billion at-the-market stock offering.

$Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ subsequently announced updated pricing terms for its initial offerings on October 27. The additional $60 billion program remains a potential future offering rather than capital already raised.

Why does Meta need so much capital?

$Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ is investing in the computing capacity, data centers and technology needed to develop and deploy AI products. Its investment plans reflect the scale of the infrastructure required to compete in an increasingly capital-intensive industry.

The company expects capital expenditure of $135 billion–$145 billion in 2026, according to its financing announcement.

That spending could create opportunities for businesses supplying semiconductors, networking equipment and data-center infrastructure.

📈 The bullish case

Continued investment by major technology companies could support demand across the AI supply chain. If AI-powered products improve advertising performance, attract customers and generate additional revenue, these investments could eventually deliver meaningful returns.

📉 The risk investors shouldn't ignore

More investment does not guarantee greater profitability.

Issuing additional common shares can dilute existing shareholders’ ownership, while convertible preferred securities have their own economic terms and potential implications for shareholders. Investors must also consider whether future AI-related revenue will justify the scale of the spending.

The financing plan therefore presents two sides of the same story: Meta is positioning itself for AI-driven growth, but it must demonstrate that its investments can generate sufficient returns.

What to watch: Meta’s capital expenditure guidance, AI-related revenue growth and evidence that its infrastructure investments are improving profitability.

📊 3. Big Tech Earnings Could Determine Whether the Rally Lasts

$Anthropic(ANT)$’s IPO filing and Meta’s financing plan have renewed attention on AI, but upcoming earnings reports could provide a more concrete test of the industry's growth expectations.

$Alphabet(GOOG)$, $Microsoft(MSFT)$ and $Amazon.com(AMZN)$ are scheduled to report results this week. Their disclosures will offer investors further insight into cloud demand, AI monetization and infrastructure spending.

Company

Key metric to watch

Why it matters

$Alphabet(GOOG)$

Google Cloud growth and AI monetization

Whether AI investment supports cloud demand and the wider business

$Microsoft(MSFT)$

Azure growth and AI-related revenue

Whether enterprise AI demand is translating into commercial returns

$Amazon.com(AMZN)$

AWS growth and capital expenditure

Whether cloud demand can justify continued infrastructure expansion

Beyond headline earnings, management guidance may be just as important.

If cloud growth remains strong and companies demonstrate that AI is contributing to revenue or profitability, investor confidence in the AI investment cycle could strengthen.

However, disappointing growth or rising expenditure without convincing evidence of returns could put pressure on valuations—even if reported earnings remain solid.

The Federal Reserve adds another layer of uncertainty

The Federal Reserve’s October 27–28 meeting is another important event for markets, with its policy announcement scheduled for Wednesday, October 28.

Interest-rate expectations influence borrowing costs and the valuations investors assign to future earnings. Growth-oriented technology stocks can be particularly sensitive to changes in the rate outlook.

The market reaction will depend not only on the Fed’s decision but also on whether its guidance differs from what investors already expect.

With major earnings reports and the Fed decision arriving in the same week, volatility could remain elevated.

What to watch: Cloud revenue growth, capital expenditure guidance, AI monetization and the Fed’s assessment of the economic outlook.

🔎 The Bottom Line

Monday’s rebound suggests that investor enthusiasm for AI remains strong, particularly in the semiconductor sector. $Anthropic(ANT)$’s IPO filing has brought renewed attention to the industry’s growth potential, while $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$’s financing plan highlights the enormous capital required to compete.

But the next phase of the AI trade may depend on more than ambitious announcements and rising investment.

Three factors matter most:

  • Demand: Can AI developers and cloud providers sustain rapid growth?

  • Profitability: Will revenue and cash flow justify the industry’s substantial infrastructure costs?

  • Expectations: Can upcoming earnings and the Fed’s policy outlook support current valuations?

The AI investment story is far from settled. This week’s earnings reports may offer important clues about whether the latest rebound has stronger fundamentals behind it.

Profitability matters most to me now. Rapid revenue growth proves there is genuine demand for AI, but the harder question is whether that demand can generate attractive returns after chips, data centres, energy and depreciation costs.

Anthropic’s growth is impressive, while Meta’s enormous infrastructure commitment shows just how capital-intensive this race has become. I would therefore watch free cash flow and operating margins alongside AI revenue growth.

For Big Tech, strong Azure, Google Cloud and AWS growth would be encouraging, but even better would be evidence that incremental AI revenue is growing faster than the associated infrastructure costs.

Long-term demand is necessary, revenue growth validates it, but sustainable profitability ultimately determines whether today’s AI spending creates shareholder value or simply creates a very expensive arms race. 🐯

Most important factor I think is the future proof. Who will be the last man standing. Last time when we were transiting into petrol car, there are more than 1000 companies, after wards only the 10 most successful companies left. This time round it will be the same
