🏦 Why I Like Citigroup (NYSE: C) – A Global Banking Giant

I like Citigroup because it is more than just a traditional American bank. Citi has a strong international presence, serving corporations, governments, institutional investors and wealthy clients across more than 180 countries and jurisdictions.

πŸ“ˆ 1️⃣ Strong Earnings Growth

Citi delivered an impressive Q3 2026 performance:

* Revenue: US$23.8 billion, up 8% year-on-year.

* Net income: US$5.2 billion.

* Earnings per share: US$2.85.

* Return on tangible common equity: 11.5%.

Its Services division grew revenue by 15%, showing the strength of its global banking and transaction services business.

πŸ’° 2️⃣ Shareholder Returns

Citi returned US$4.1 billion to shareholders through dividends and share buybacks in Q3. I like companies that generate profits and are willing to return capital to shareholders.

🌏 3️⃣ Global Banking Opportunities

Citi benefits from international trade, cross-border payments, wealth management and corporate banking. Its global network gives it an important competitive advantage.

1️⃣ Why am I making this trade now?

I am interested in Citi because its earnings momentum is improving, its global banking business remains strong and its transformation is gradually delivering better returns. I also see potential if the market begins to reward its improving profitability.

2️⃣ What’s my plan from here?

I want to monitor its next earnings, return on tangible equity, credit quality and share price momentum. I prefer accumulating gradually rather than chasing a sudden rally.

🐱 My view: Citi is an interesting long-term banking candidate because I am looking for a combination of earnings growth, global exposure and shareholder returns. However, I will continue watching valuation and economic risks before adding more shares.

    I must say that I’ve been invested in Citibank for the longest time although it’s a pity that I did not wait for the strong rebound to let go, but nevertheless, I’m still happy to see it coming back.

    The earnings are solid, but the transformation part still needs a cleaner scoreboard. Which cost saves or tech investments do you expect to move returns over the next few quarters?
