The number of cars sold is much better than the time it was below USD 4. In term of premium EV, $NIO Inc.(NIO)$ is actually doing much better and having a bigger market penetration than others.

The Profitability Gap: Unlike competitors like Tesla or BYD which generate multi-billion dollar profits, NIO remains stuck in the red. Even though NIO managed a brief non-GAAP positive operational turn earlier in the year, its GAAP bottom line continues to experience multi-million dollar net losses.
Capital-Intensive Infrastructure: NIO heavily spends on its proprietary Battery Swapping Network and luxury clubhouses (NIO Houses). While this offers a unique moat, the massive upfront capital expenditure delays when consistent free cash flow will flow back to equity holders.
Share Dilution: To sustain its massive cash burn, NIO has frequently raised money via equity sales (such as a massive US$1 billion stock issuance). While this boosts cash reserves, it dilutes existing investors and places a technical cap on stock price upside.
Only management can help. Investors should demand action from management to prop up share price on par with its loss making peer.
