I view divided government as both an opportunity and a source of uncertainty, depending on how political developments influence economic policy.

Congressional gridlock could limit sweeping legislative changes and provide greater policy stability. However, disagreements over taxation, federal spending and regulation could also delay important decisions.

Technology and AI may face increased regulatory scrutiny, while healthcare and financial institutions could experience changes in oversight. Nevertheless, sector performance ultimately depends on earnings growth and valuations.

Historical post-midterm rallies are encouraging, but correlation does not establish causation. Past returns also reflect different economic conditions and interest-rate cycles.

Rather than adjusting my portfolio based on political affiliation, I would prioritise corporate profitability, free cash flow, Federal Reserve policy and long-term fundamentals.
