I'm a newbie in this space.. My 1st time buying stocks/shares was via a phone call to my broker.. (Oops, that kinda revealed my age ?) You can easily conclude I'm not a digital native & I wasn't born into an environment that has smart phones/tablets..
That said, I am in a unique position to have this perspective between "old school" and what is available to investors now. Cheaper/lower commission fee aside, it's the wealth of information (& possibly misinformation) made available and complete control given to retail investors on an app like Tiger is what impressed the hell out of me. The power unleashed through empowerment of this magnitude is not to be underestimated..
So, what about meme stocks? Spreading of information & misinformation via all sorts of social media platforms is another force to be reckon with. Observing this phenomenon first hand recently left me awe struck. Back in the days, so called "syndicates" cornered stocks and drove up the prices as well, but they didn't have powerful tools like present time. Take some time to understand and appreciate this fact and it can make a difference to your trading journey.
However, be VERY MINDFUL of letting greed getting the better of you.. There is a huge difference between value investing vs speculation, getting them confused can be costly & painful.
