Smart move by AAPL. Potentially iPhone users will get a free iPhone when first sign up or planned product refresh and users pay monthly subscription in order to use the phone. Makes it significantly easier to reach a wider group of consumers. Please like.

    If apple does this subscription model a lot of customer willl leave to android I will be one of those.

      side note: switching between Android and iOS is really a pain, so from a convenience point of view, consumers will still remain with what they have.

      with a huge critical mass alongside their ecosystem, end of the day consumers will still likely to support their products.

      same as msft adbe and many other companies that use monthly subscription models. we can't do without them.

      I like the idea of a subscription plan. I think it's another situation where Apple knows what we want before we know it.

    Apple did not go up because of a new subscription plan. It went up because iphone sales in Q2 are very strong and they will delivery strong results in April. It was also extremely OVERSOLD

      possibly so, but since in the absence of good news, anything that maybe perceived as good news to AAPL gives investors reason to pump up it's stock price

    I will not buy a company who secretly make their hardware obsolete through software updates to push consumers into upgrading. I do not support crooks.
