This will be a another great catalyst for AMDs already booming datacenter business. 1.9billions, something they can easily pay out of their pocket these days. AMD is currently following a max expansion and growth strategy in the server/data center business, to maximize exploitation of intels weakness in this segment. A reminder: The first potential server product granite rapids from Intel got postponed to 2024. Thus this makes total sense. SPR with 56 cores (apparently there will be also ones with 60, but this will be a vey very limited edition, with very low supply in the hundreds or thousands) will narrow the huge gap but there is no real product until 2024 that would be able to properly give AMD a hard time. Genoa and Bergamo will literaly destroy SPR, a product that has been developed for dozens of years and was supposed to take the server business into a new era.
