We support the world’s best independent brands, emerging designers, destinations, design events and products through exceptional, award winning content and ecommerce across the worlds of art, architecture, interior design, furniture, fashion and technology. They are a small company, but They have a strong voice and a large community, which comes with a responsibility to support and share all voices in creativity. created a new editorial section to highlight organizations that promote diversity, equity and relief in design, architecture and the arts. In addition, They have expanded their editorial coverage, and created more visibility for the designers and makers they feature.
Shop mission
On top of their ongoing charitable contributions, as a company, They commit to the 15% Pledge. They will strive to give at least 15% of our virtual shelf space to Black-owned brands. In addition, we are focused on ensuring that they create a platform for BIPOC-led or owned businesses, alongside other underrepresented groups.
Editorial mission
For over a decade, Design Milk has been so dedicated to the work, the products, the architecture and the interiors, that they haven’t actively highlighted the people behind the projects and we believe they deserve visibility.
they are actively working on ensuring that we are highlighting projects, products and brands led by underrepresented groups and finding better ways to make the people behind them more visible.
They are creating a permanent reference list of architecture, design and creative organizations and websites that are doing excellent work with underrepresented communities and will support these organizations through media partnerships and collaborative efforts. They will share these resources through editorial articles and a permanent cohesive reference list, which will be situated prominently on our website.
They have over 30% BIPOC-led brands (including 3% Black-led brands) across our shops.
They have donated tens of thousands of dollars to a variety of charity organizations.
They have supported independent design events and programs for Black designers.In the past, we have made corporate contributions to Designs for Dignity, RAICES, NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, Border Angels, ACLU, Share our Strength and AMBOS Project, among others.
