$Starbucks(SBUX)$ Whatever you guys say about CEO change… every Starbucks around me is filled with people eager to spend money daily on their caffeine addiction.
Lineups at the drive thru, and at the sit-in locations you have a very enjoyable cheap “office” space for laptop work with great internet & charging, quality music and friendly staff. Cleanliness and modern interior design.
There I have a safe haven from the distractions at home so I can focus on my work, I can pay to satiate my caffeine dependency (imo their menu is great) while getting a built in work space with free electricity and internet.
I see people doing the same at every single Starbucks I go to. This in combination with their relentless efforts to close low margin stores and open more profitable ones in premium real estate locations is something that gives them a competitive edge and staying power. Makes me less worried about Dutch bros for example which has a different business format.
We can’t forget their retail presence of SVUX either with all the bottled drinks they sell at gas stations, convenience shops and the coffee beans they sell at grocery stores. Now energy drinks too.
Chinese expansion, access to a multi billion dollar 0% interest credit line through the Starbucks rewards cards that people load up with NON REDEEMABLE dollars ie. Starbucks only has to pay back with their coffee (at profit obviously)..
They are “tech focused” and driving growth with their app. You’re investing in coffee in a very powerful way with Starbucks and it has as much staying power as human consumption in general!Less
