Inflation is always here to stay. But in times like this when inflation rises so fast, those who will be the most impacted are those from the lower wage group and those being laid off. When the annual salary increment is not able to match the rising inflation, it's almost like having a pay cut and this may push more people to switch jobs.
It's understandable that costs will rise when vendors pass the increased costs to the end consumer to stay profitable. However, there are many who seemingly take this opportunity to anyhow increase the price to gain more profits from it. An example of such unexplainable sudden increase in price which I observed recently in my neighborhood is the price increase in baby wet wipes that had went up by 50%-80%.
Increase in cost that will have the most impact will be staples, utilities, cost of transport and medical costs. These are unavoidable costs that will affect everyone.
For those who are more impacted by it, especially those from the lower wage group (maybe middle wage group as well) , they may have to switch to cheaper alternatives such as white bread from wholemeal bread, fresh milk to UHT milk etc. This impact may last for quite some time, maybe until their salary increments catches up.
