Why did I choose Tigerbrokers?
You know those courses which offer to teach you how to trade at high/very high prices? The Tigerbrokers App has managed to teach me more than I would have gotten from these course.
I was first interested in trading and investing after reading Edwin Lefevre's autobiography of Jesse Livermore, Reminisces of a Stock Operator. However, I did not know how to trade and was initially confused with the signing up of the other apps. Tigerbrokers offered me an easy way to sign up and trade and with the incentives (free Apple stock), it was an easy choice.
My journey with Tiger is by no means easy. I started in Jan 2022 and made losses. When I bought, stock prices fell and when I sold, it rose. While initially frustrating, I read a lot of the useful articles provided by Tiger and much of the advice resonated with what I read in Edwin Lefevre's book.
I learnt several important lessons about investing, with the most important being investment takes time. I had always thought investing was just about choosing the correct stock and buying it but this was not to be. A stock is like a plant, you have to choose the right seeds, cultivate it and grow it. Over time, then will you get your rewards.
My investments so far have been battered by macro environments, such as the war, inflation and supply chain disruptions. My first trade $DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD(D05.SI)$, which everyone said was a great stock has dropped quite a bit. From this, I have learnt that investing is definitely not a sure-win but I've also learnt it is not a sure-lose as long as you can hold it and the company's fundamentals are good. Nevertheless, I've also learnt to invest with discipline and to withold my emotions (sentiments). In my battle with time, holding power is important and I have also learnt to allocate what to invest and what to save.
I have come a long way since my first post and I hope that from my posts, I have gained and shared my insights and knowledge. Because of that, I appreciate Tigerbrokers for all the lessons in investing it has allowed me to learn, incentives it has offered as encouragement as well as the "classes" @Tiger_Academy has introduced. I also want to thank the staff @TigerStars@CaptainTiger@MillionaireTigerfor picking my articles. Most of all, I want to thank my readers who have accompanied me through my journey and offer words of advice (whether straight to me or through their articles @koolgal@AdamKhoo). Indeed, I have learnt a lot from all of you.
