I had interesting conversation with a fellow Tiger member, which revolves around alternative energy sources and the implications of fossil fuels.
My take is plain and simple: the reliance on fossil fuels will never go away. At plain sight, one might think that fossil fuels are mainly used to power transportation and heat homes; but one has to also consider the many daily household products that are derivatives of fossil fuel - even toothpaste. Yes, toothpaste.
Second of all, and an IMPORTANT ONE: trying to crush the reliance on fossil fuels is akeen to bankrupting the financial system: way too many sectors, industries, jobs and currencies are tied to what is known today as the contentious petro dollar. It was made that way and will stay that way for the foreseeable future. The on-going NATO conflict also clearly demonstrates the delicate balance on handling diplomacies centred around the needfor this centuries-old energy source.
God forbid, but if the day were to come where there is a hell-bent global movement to distance the reliance on fossil fuels - there better be a soft landing in place to cushion the impact. Otherwise, the financial system could implode with many casualties taken with it.
So, happy trading / investing during this turbulent times, and let's exercise caution on what we wish or hope for.
