The Group was form in 2003 through the merger of two land transport companies in Singapore – Comfort Group and DelGro Corporation. Following the merger, ComfortDelGro has expanded vastly and now operates in seven countries with a global fleet of about 40,000 vehicles. Beside being one of the market leaders in Singapore, the group current operations extend from the United Kingdom and Ireland to Australia, Malaysia as well as several cities in China.
Presence in Australia
The ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia (CDC) Group has grown steadily since 2005 and operate in six States. It operates public and charter bus services in New South Wales, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, the Northern Territory and Queensland. Other businesses include taxi services based in Perth.
In it’s June Media release coverage, the group announced it has won the bid to retain and expanded its public transport services contract in the Northern Territory for six-year as the sole operator. The Darwin and Urban service contract areas covers a significant part of Northern Territory’s public transport network, with 170 vehicles operation across more than 180 bus routes, moving approximately 5.7 million passengers annually.
Expanding in Ireland
ComfortDelGro Irish Citylink Limited, which is wholly-owned by ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited will become the third largest inter-city coach operator in Ireland after acquiring Irish coach operator GoBus For 12 million euros.
The Irish Group has been running a range of services in Dublin, Galway, Cork, and other cities with a fleet of 33 buses which carries over 28,000 people a week across all routes.
The acquisition of GoBus coach service will include a fleet of 31 buses and three-city coach routes: the Galway-Dublin Express, the Cork-Dublin Express and the Galway-Ballina Express. All three routes have already return to pre-Covid strong commuter ridership levels.
Rebranding ComfortDelGro Taxi APP
The company has relaunched its taxi booking app as CDG Zig as part of the Group’s plan to synergise and leverage its core strengthens in land transport solution. It also aims to make it easier for customers to gain access to various service on a single platform.
CDG Zig APP will offer users taxi and ride-hailing booking features and lifestyle options like restaurant reservation and Electric Vehicle (EV) charging. It will continue to add more features from its range of businesses such as booking of car rental, driving lessons and medical transport.
