The Barefoot Investor is what helped me start getting into investing, and is a good read, particularly for Australians (as it's by an Aussie and is relevant to our systems). Yes a lot of the stuff in there is fairly common sense, but it's also helpful to get you to analyse how you spend money and what your investment strategies should be. It also helps give an insight into good and bad debts, as well as what strategies you should utilise for retirement. It is also broken down into language that's easy to understand.
