Hey, this is Stocks_Pedia

I'd like to introduce some unfamiliar companies that may be helpful to your investment.

The company I am going to introduce is $Tootsie Roll(TR)$

It went public on 24th February 1922.

【Company Profile】

Launched in 1896 by the popularity of a single product, the iconic oblong piece of chewy, chocolate candy - Tootsie Roll Industries(NYSE:TR) has grown to become one of the country's largest candy companies, with a lineup that includes some of the world's most popular candy, chocolate, and bubble gum brands.

Tootsie's brands include some of the most familiar candy names: Tootsie Roll, Tootsie Pop, Charms Blow Pop, Mason Dots etc. They're sold in a wide variety of venues, including supermarkets, warehouse and membership stores, vending machines, dollar stores, drug stores, and convenience stores.

【History & Events】

In 1896, Austrian immigrant Leo Hirshfield Leo Hirschfield invents the Tootsie Roll and names it for his daughter.

In 1900, Soon to explode was a journey with the manufacturer Stern & Staalberg, which Hirschfield merged with in the beginning decade of the 1900’s.

In 1905, Tootsie Rolls Move to NewYork, and made in a four story New York City Candy Factory!

In 1907, Hirshfield decided he wanted a chocolate-tasting candy that would not melt in the heat, and that is an economical artificial alternative to traditional chocolates.

In 1908, America got a reputation “as a great candy eating nation”. The name Tootsie Roll was trademarked in 1908.

In 1917, the name of the company was changed to The Sweets Company of America.

In 1919, the company was reformed and listed on the American Stock Exchange in 1919.

In 1922, the Sweets Company of America is registered with the New York Stock Exchange.

In 1931, the Tootsie Pop was invented, and quickly became popular with low price.

In 1935, the company was in serious difficulty. Its principal supplier of paper boxes, Joseph Rubin eventually achieved control. After his death, his brother William B. Rubin became president and remained president until 1962.

In 1962, William's daughter, Ellen Rubin Gordon, took control, and as of January 2015, is Chairman and CEO of the company. For many years prior to his death, her husband, Melvin Gordon, was Chairman and CEO from 1962 to 2015.

In 1966, the company adopted its current name of "Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc."

The company has acquired several famous brands of confections, such as The Candy Corporation of America's Mason Division (1972), Cella's Confections (1985), The Charms Company (1988), Warner-Lambert's candy division (1993; excluding gum and mints), Andes Candies (2000), and Concord Confections (2004).
