• U.S. stocks closed near flat on Monday after giving up earlier gains as investors approached the final stretch of earnings season and braced for a busy week of inflation data.The S&P 500 teetered into negative territory, capping the session down 0.1% after the benchmark index logged three straight weeks of gains on Friday. The Nasdaq was down by roughly the same margin as an economic warning from Nividia (NVDA) weighed on technology peers. The tech-heavy index fell from a climb of as much as 1% during intraday trading. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up about 0.1%.
• $Upstart Holdings, Inc.(UPST)$ — Shares fell 7% after the consumer lending company posted disappointing second quarter results. Upstart earned 1 cent per share on revenue of $228.2 million. Analysts surveyed by Refinitiv were estimating earnings of 10 cents per share on revenue of $241.6 million.
• $Novavax(NVAX)$ — The biotech stock dropped 32% after Novavaxcut its full-year revenue guidancedue to poor demand for its Covid vaccines.

• SoftBank Group Corp. is selling at least part of its 9% stake in $SoFi Technologies Inc.(SOFI)$ , part of a sweeping effort at the Japanese conglomerate to reduce costs and stem losses in the valuation of its technology-focused Vision Fund investment portfolio.SoftBank sold about 5.4 million SoFi shares at a weighted average price of $7.99 on Aug. 5, according to a Monday filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. It sold an additional 6.7 million shares, at an average price of $8.17, on Monday. A subsidiary of SoftBank owned 83.2 million shares of SoFi as of June 30, according to the filing.
• $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ is expecting revenue to be $6.7 billion, well below guidance and estimates calling for $8.1 billion. The miss was primarily due to weaker-than-forecast gaming revenue, which will come in 33% lower year over year at $2.04 billion.Nvidia NVDA –6.30% shares plunged after the chip manufacturer shared preliminary financial results for the second quarter.
