Why AMD fall and why to hold on it?[serious] [Doubt]
AMD 3rd quarter revenue slightly below Wall Street estimates, and the shares fell ~6% post market [Put]
Why?
Chipmakers are under pressure
-from a spate of COVID curbs in China
- Ukraine war, which have worsened supply-chain snarls and dragged demand further.
-Runaway inflation and the reopening of offices and schools have led people to spend less on personal computers than they did during lockdowns, hurting companies like AMD
These pressures led to lower-than-expected earnings and forecast from Intel Corp.
Reasons to hold on this stock[666]
1) AMD said it saw strength in the data center and embedded segments, with growth slowing elsewhere. The company maintained its full-year guidance.
2) In contrast to Intel's big miss last week, AMD actually delivered a solid quarter.
-YipitData research director said AMD has been gaining market share in the data center and cloud market at Intel’s expense.
3) The average analyst price target for AMD stock is $127.13. This would mean the stock has room to run up by about 31%.
