There are three shares that I have followed due to some market highlight. Namely Uber; Airbnb and Roku. Of the three, I owned Roku and Airbnb through option assignment. First I would like to comment on the observation of the stocks in relation to the current market sentiment and leave the readers to digest these general observations.
US market has went through a huge dipped in first half of 2022 with index pointing to 'extreme fear'. The plunge was so great and fast that almost it was almost quite difficult for retail investors to react to the price drop to take enough time to really think 'what's the next step'. MARKET NEWS seems to DOMINATE and feeds that extreme fear. Every price movement were capped on the upside. Doom and gloom camps are over YouTube (with also bullish investors as well). Many stocks like Apple, Amazon and Alphabet with good valuation were moving sideline despite of good market forecast.
Fast forward till date, many investors are cautious still and are concern about the next in thing:- earning reports. With index improve from 'extreme fear' to 'fear'. More are concern about companies fundamentals and earnings, some regard as bear rallies, sideline still. Some think stocks has rally too much to 'buy at the dip'
Here are three companies perform immediately after the recent earning reports:-
Uber was up about 24% with good earning report.
Contrary, Roku has a trash talk as well a bad earning. Stock did plunge from $85 to $62 right bottom way below May dip. BUT the sharescurrently REBOUNDED to $75ish. Did the earning report and all the market trash talk matters for now?
Airbnb was most weird, earning report was nothingof disastrous, but stock plunge a whopping 9+% from 116 to 105 post market trading, but rebounded slightly.
In summary than conclusion on the observation of the above three companies, market price movementis move by largely by MARKET SENTIMENT as wella general outlook of the companies performance. Ifgood reports are one seeks, buy when it is good like Uber, if trash report and talks are one believe, should have sold off, or, like Airbnb good report and dips, buy at the value?
Invest for the longer term, with common sense of pricing after being in the market. I am bullish on the market, not as a rocket dashing up the moon, but rather a strong bull raging out of a bear cage. đ
