Market plunged, people around me are lamenting and giving pitiful looks.
Some are hiding their heads in the sand, refusing to look at their portfolio.
Some are counting their losses based on number of air conditioning units for lack of a better comparison. True story [Facepalm]
Do I care which Stage of investor sentiment am I in? Nope. I dun really care. I only know the following...
my portfolio is getting a hell of a beating.
So what do we do?
We can choose to
1. Roll over and play dead and hopefully the bear will pass us by, by selling away all our positions. The bear will leave nothing behindthough...
2. Become an ostrich and dun look at our portfolio by hiding our heads in the sand until the bear left us.
3. Dance with the bear
How so?
As a value investor, my portfolio is built to take beatings.
I will guard myself while letting the bear beat me up.
I will not sell My shares as there is no need to.
When the bear gives me an opportunity to attack, I will punch it and grab somemore shares.
If the bear is going so hard until I have to sell my weaker shares, I will make sure to use the funds to hit back the bear even harder to buy even better undervalued shares.
It ain't Over until i can get as many hits as I can on the bear.
As an options trader, I move even lighter on my feet.
Armed with left jabs (puts) and right hooks (calls), every hit that I make above 80% profit, I make it count and take profit.
When the bear gives me opportunity, I will load up more shots and swing again.
Even when I am defending, time ticks away in my favour (theta decay)
I sure won't want to let this bear run away without giving it a hell of a time. [Cool]
Guess listening to Gym Class heroes "the fighter" does help with fighting the bear. [Victory]
