Bird Watching 101 is a key citizen science component to help raise awareness about the birds in Singapore by identifying and documenting them. The programme also focuses on the impacts of supporting annual bird counts, monitoring songbirds in IWT in Singapore, and leading future WWF nature trails (WWF Explores).
The course is planned to run over 3 weekends and launch on 15th October 2022, where every Saturday are theory lessons (conducted in Ang Mo Kio Library) and Sundays are practical field visits (conducted in different nature parks and reserves in Singapore).
As part of the theory sessions, we will be covering the topics such as the basics of bird watching, common birds in Singapore, migration, threats, and conservation steps. While the practical sessions will be an application of the theory session and will involve the documentation of birds we observe during field visits.
These are the dates planned out for that course:
- 15th & 16th October 2022
- 22nd & 23rd October 2022
- 29th & 30th October 2022
Anyone who is enthusiastic to learn more about birds, above 16 years old, and is a resident of Singapore can join us on this exciting new programme. If that is you, sign up here today!
