U.S. stocks and bonds rose Wednesday, following a surprise intervention from the Bank of England in the bond market.
All three major U.S. indexes were higher a day after the S&P 500 reached a fresh low for the year, with most of the S&P 500's sectors in the green. Retail investors continue to be interested in shares of Apple and Tesla. And analysts are eying a weakening yuan.
The BoE action boosted U.K. bond prices, and briefly jolted the pound higher. Benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury yields briefly topped 4%, then dropped after the BOE move.
