How I day trade $Invesco QQQ Trust(QQQ)$ on Friday 23/Dec/2022
1) Enter long at $263.90 when I saw a huge spike in volume at exact 30mins after market opened. It doesn't happen everyday but sometimes it does. It could be institutions or market makers who set their algorithms to take position after the 1st half an hour of trading.
Usually I don't trade counter trend especially when all the trendlines crossover lower and RSI is below 50. However in this case I decided to go long as the huge volume at 30th min has taken out all the bears and price seems to be well supported at $263.70. So I set a stop loss at $263.30.
2) Price spiked up shortly and I took my profit at $265.50. As I said, I don't really like to trade counter trend and Christmas (mood) is coming, so I just took my profit at 1:2.5x and went to sleep. (I am more of a "night trader" than day trader since I am trading from Asia)
3) On hindsight, I could have adjusted my stop loss accordingly and let the price continue to run. But it's ok, I am aware that I am not going to become a millionaire based on 1 trade and I will always leave money on the table. Nobody will be able to enter at the lowest and exit at the highest level (unless you are the biggest market maker out there). It is important to know that we are just a small fish in the sea and we only want to nibble a little bit of what the big fish is eating and run away before we become the big fish's next meal.
I hope you gained some insights from my trade and I will post more of my trade reviews in the future. Meantime, enjoy your long weekend! Cheers.
