#AFFMitsubishiElectricCup2022

It has been an event that the South East Asianfootball fanatics have always been waiting for.If my memories didn't fail me, it used to be called Tiger Cup, sponsored by ABP then changed to Suzuki Cup sponsored by Suzuki then now called Mitsubishi Electric Cup.

As a lion supporter we used to watch MalaysiaCup growing up taking a lot of pride into it. When Singapore pulled out Malaysia Cup and League and started our own S-League. The regional rivalry shifted its focus to AFF.

Once every two years, that is how the Singapore avid Supporters born in the 70s grew up supporting their national footballers.

From Fandi, Sundramoorthy, to Indra & Alan Shar... And many many heroes. We grew up supporting Singapore footballer because of National Pride. When we become more mature, we understood why football has not been as successful as we thought it could have been. Also because of many many reasons.

Singaporean's National duties, education system, sponsorships, football academies, sufficient good football fields to let footballers engaged in leisure and professional games. So manymany challenges, this most popular sports faced throughout the years.

However, let's go back to AFF, Singapore won4 cups. We are going into the next game meeting Malaysia at KL our arch rivals for so manyyears. If we can get a draw from this game wecan go into the semifinals.

Since a teenager watching AFF until now a middle age man in the mid 40s. Still supporting Singapore not matter how strong or how weakour squad is. The burning wishing thoughts of hearing the Singapore news of winning is still so strong. National pride that is.

My memories still is kept in Sasikumar "shouldered" a header and we won the cup.

Hope a new leader in our team can "shoulder"the responsibilities of us winning.

Good luck, the lions.

May you bring glories back to our motherland Singapore!

Best wishes!
