My advice to China Tigers with the pandemic reopening would be as follows:
1) Take the COVID-19 vaccines and boosters whenever they are available to you
2) Wear masks when you are in public, especially crowded places such as public transports and markets, and in particular when you visit medical facilities like hospitals, clinics and nursing homes.
3) Discard your used masks properly in rubbish bins, rather than conveniently disposing of them anywhere.
4) Practise good personal hygiene including disinfecting or washing your hands after you have come into contact with foreign objects in public places before touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
4) If you sneeze, cover your mouth with a tissue even when you think nobody is nearby, and dispose the tissue appropriately in rubbish bins after using.
5) Visit the doctor if you feel unwell and isolate yourself at home if you are diagnosed to be infected with COVID-19 virus.
6) Rest well if you are unwell and drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. Consume only medication prescribed by doctors for your illness, rather than believe in hearsay medicines in social medias.
7) Never stockpile medicines and other essential items more than you need at home, as this will deprive others in greater need of them from accessing them and driving up prices for everybody.
8) Discard used COVID-19 test kits by wrapping them securely in disposable bags before throwing them in waste bins.
9) Do not spread unfounded rumours and create unnecessary fears. Listen to only instructions from authorised sources.
10) Take care of your health by eating healthy and exercising regularly. Go for regular health screening. Encourage family members and friends to do the same.
These measures are not only meant to protect yourself, but also to protect other vulnerables especially the elderly or people who could not be vaccinated for medical reasons. Together, we could put the COVID-19 at bay.
Be healthy and stay safe, while you celebrate the coming festive season with your loved ones!
